What a Week So Far . . .

porklogo2From field trips for legislatures to taxing sheep belching and  cow farts, our elected officials sure keep things interesting. Interesting yes, but more so for me, it is infuriating.

We have a rouge executive branch that is trampling on the Constitution with every word it utters and with every new program it proceeds to shove down our throats, another piece of our freedom is lost. At the state level, lawmakers refuse to even consider action to secure our state sovereignty from a real threat and citizens roam as if they are drones with no brains to think for themselves any more.

I do give respect to Gov Rounds for realizing the undue long term hardships business owners would have been made to assume should he have accepted the unemployment funds. For those who do not agree I suggest you get off your butt and open your own business, hire employees and see how hard it is to make a living. It always amazes me how people scream for a free hand-out and scream discrimination or favoritism, when they have absolutely no clue or basis for their rants other than they are either too lazy or too ignorant to learn the truth.

The Constitution specifically states that every person has the right to life, liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness. NO WHERE does it say a person is guaranteed a job, house or even the basics of food. What it does give you is the freedom to pursue all avenues to attain these for yourself. The last I checked, there are plenty of jobs available and though they may not be what you are accustomed to, sometimes we have to just bite the bullet and do what we have to to provide for ourselves and our families.155134a_a

The Constituion is also very specific as to the duties of the US Govt, what remains with the states and what ever is not listed under either of those remains with the people. Well, now we have US & State govts usurping duties that were to remain in the hands of the people, the US Govt usurping duties that should have remained with the States and a population so lazy and ignorant to even care that with every handout they beg for from the govt, they are allowing more of our freedoms to be usurped.

We do still have time, but I can honestly say that time is getting pretty limited. The bright shining light of the “FREE REPUBLIC” of the United States of America is growing dimmer each day.

So while I wait to see how Congress votes to find out just how many more billions of tax payer dollars, that don’t exist, they intend on spending, I invite you to listen to a bit of Levin with me if you wish to as he dives into the real threat of nationalized healthcare. He may be blunt at times, but he helps keep me sane.

Herseth-Sandlin has found true camaraderie within the most liberal, fiscally irresponsible group in DC

This is in response to Kranz’s article “Political Advantage”: I can not disagree more.

In such economically hard times, BIG government is NOT the answer and allowing a pork laden bill to pass is NOT fiscally responsible. Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin’s stance that she is a quote “Blue-Dog” is the biggest oxymoron I have heard in years. When a so called “Blue-Dog” does not stand and vote with the leader of the “Blue-Dogs”, she no longer can claim that she is truly a conservative democrat.

Stephanie has proven in the last couple months that she is more interested in her political career/clout. She has found true camaraderie within the most liberal, fiscally irresponsible group in DC and she will have the fight of her life unless she turns back and starts standing strong against any and ALL earmarks and pork laden bills and budgets.

When you are laid off due to employer cutbacks because the tax increases she voted for, remember to call her and thank her for the tax increases that not only hurt all the main street businesses that cost you your job, but also the tax increases hitting your pocket book at home by newly implemented and higher taxes on everyday necessities such as water, heating fuel, electricity and food.

Congratulations To The February Austin Music City CD Voter’s Poll winner, Justin Haigh! We are so Proud of You!

Home Grown in South Dakota, Justin Haigh is more than just an up and coming country music star. He is a friend, confidant and a true American Patriot.

We had the pleasure of getting to know Justin many years ago before his music career even got off it’s feet. The year he drove truck for my brother-in-law, Justin blessed us with a private concert during a Christmas party at the truck shop. I will never forget feeling the passion and love in his voice that night where he sat upon the wooden steps leading to the tiny office while he sang for us the song dedicated to his uncle, “Melvin’s Song”. We were “hooked” and knew that God had blessed Justin with a very special talent that would lead him to great places.

Though the road has been long and even though Justin still struggles with his day job of long haul trucking, like any true dedicated American Patriot, he continues to press on to realize his American Dream.

We love ya Justin, and as you always say…”May the Horse Be With You Always”

God Bless, Don, Linda, Michelle and Allie

Congratulations To The February Austin Music City CD Voter’s Poll winner, Justin Haigh!

ImageIt was the Superbowl of poll contests for sure in the February listener’s poll with a tight race all month long but in the end it was Justin Haigh and his song “Ain’t Leaving” that finished in the number one spot.

With a huge following and an extremely well produced group of songs under his belt, Haigh is definitely on the “one to watch” list of new artists. And with influences in the business that stretch from Merle Haggard to Metallica, it’s easy to see how he has been able to tap into his own imagination to come up with some very powerful and vivid material to record. His songs are lined with a plaintive, sometimes brutal honesty that is not harnessed img_0in any way by commercialism or the need to please anyone, in other words, what you see is what you hear.

Another thing he has going for him is that he doesn’t sound like anybody else. A distinctive voice that sets him apart from many of the Texas music acts in the fact that he can actually sing, a welcome advantage that can certainly be appreciated when listening to many of the new releases that have been received in recent months and is probably one of the main reasons for the huge following. Whether in an intimate setting in a small club or in a packed arena, here is an artist that could pull it off in either situation.

It’s a comforting thing to me to know there is an artist like this that is coming up in the biz that knows what’s up, Haigh is not only keenly aware of what it takes to write and sing a song but is also appreciative of the ones that came before him and familiar with and indebted to the history of those performers. Just listen to the song “Waylon” and you’ll know what I mean.

“I Ain’t Leaving”, “Out In The Fields” “Let’s Chase Each Other” and my personal favorite “Monahans” are all definite keepers and fine examples of things to come for a fine Texas artist.

Currently working on a new CD with producer Lew Curatolo of Heritage Records in Austin and Joe Scaife of Nashville it will be interesting to hear the finished product. For more on Justin Haigh, check out www.myspace.com/justinhaigh for a glimpse of what will definitely be “one to watch”.

Exactly Who Are We Bailing Out Here?

Credible sources have confirmed that AIG is not following capitalistic finance rules. They are now Sharia Finance Compliant, which puts all AIG investments into the hands of Islam. Our National Govt is training workers in Sharia Compliant Finance. What for?

Here is a more telling history of AIG….and, exactly who are we bailing out here and why are we training govt workers on Islamic finance laws?

There’s More at Work Here…than meets the eye.

China is calling the shots on this one.

AIG was founded in China in the 1900s, then kicked out. In the early 90s, AIG wanted back in to China and China wanted to join the WTO. Greenspan make something like 35 trips to China negotiating the deal. China wanted the customary 50 percent ownership of AIG as a foreign company, but they had to give up all ownership to get into the WTO. Now AIG is the only 100 foreign-owned company operating in China. And the largest.

This is where it gets bad.

Basically, the Chinese are savers, so AIG captured almost all of China’s private money, setting up a pension fund for the Chinese in the late 90s. They’re like the Social Security system. AIG also insures China’s own banking investments. When AIG faltered last fall, it almost brought down the Hong Kong Exchange.

We immediately got our marching orders from China on the AIG bailouts.

So, what was Hillary really talking with China about buying treasuries about the other day?

A Look Back: Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending

September 30, 1999

In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders.

The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets — including the New York metropolitan region — will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring.

Fannie Mae, the nation’s biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.

In addition, banks, thrift institutions and mortgage companies have been pressing Fannie Mae to help them make more loans to so-called subprime borrowers. These borrowers whose incomes, credit ratings and savings are not good enough to qualify for conventional loans, can only get loans from finance companies that charge much higher interest rates — anywhere from three to four percentage points higher than conventional loans.

”Fannie Mae has expanded home ownership for millions of families in the 1990’s by reducing down payment requirements,” said Franklin D. Raines, Fannie Mae’s chairman and chief executive officer. ”Yet there remain too many borrowers whose credit is just a notch below what our underwriting has required who have been relegated to paying significantly higher mortgage rates in the so-called subprime market.”

Demographic information on these borrowers is sketchy. But at least one study indicates that 18 percent of the loans in the subprime market went to black borrowers, compared to 5 per cent of loans in the conventional loan market.

In moving, even tentatively, into this new area of lending, Fannie Mae is taking on significantly more risk, which may not pose any difficulties during flush economic times. But the government-subsidized corporation may run into trouble in an economic downturn, prompting a government rescue similar to that of the savings and loan industry in the 1980’s.

”From the perspective of many people, including me, this is another thrift industry growing up around us,” said Peter Wallison a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. ”If they fail, the government will have to step up and bail them out the way it stepped up and bailed out the thrift industry.”

Under Fannie Mae’s pilot program, consumers who qualify can secure a mortgage with an interest rate one percentage point above that of a conventional, 30-year fixed rate mortgage of less than $240,000 — a rate that currently averages about 7.76 per cent. If the borrower makes his or her monthly payments on time for two years, the one percentage point premium is dropped.

Fannie Mae, the nation’s biggest underwriter of home mortgages, does not lend money directly to consumers. Instead, it purchases loans that banks make on what is called the secondary market. By expanding the type of loans that it will buy, Fannie Mae is hoping to spur banks to make more loans to people with less-than-stellar credit ratings.

Fannie Mae officials stress that the new mortgages will be extended to all potential borrowers who can qualify for a mortgage. But they add that the move is intended in part to increase the number of minority and low income home owners who tend to have worse credit ratings than non-Hispanic whites.

Home ownership has, in fact, exploded among minorities during the economic boom of the 1990’s. The number of mortgages extended to Hispanic applicants jumped by 87.2 per cent from 1993 to 1998, according to Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies. During that same period the number of African Americans who got mortgages to buy a home increased by 71.9 per cent and the number of Asian Americans by 46.3 per cent.

In contrast, the number of non-Hispanic whites who received loans for homes increased by 31.2 per cent.

Despite these gains, home ownership rates for minorities continue to lag behind non-Hispanic whites, in part because blacks and Hispanics in particular tend to have on average worse credit ratings.

In July, the Department of Housing and Urban Development proposed that by the year 2001, 50 percent of Fannie Mae’s and Freddie Mac’s portfolio be made up of loans to low and moderate-income borrowers. Last year, 44 percent of the loans Fannie Mae purchased were from these groups.

The change in policy also comes at the same time that HUD is investigating allegations of racial discrimination in the automated underwriting systems used by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to determine the credit-worthiness of credit applicants.

Here Come the Taxes . . .

In Obama’s weekly radio address, he announced:

“Never before in our history has a tax cut taken effect faster or gone to so many hardworking Americans”

“Making Work Pay” tax break will affect 95 percent of working families, and, in six weeks’ time, a typical family will start taking home at least $65 more every month.”

This is an outright lie and distortion of the truth.

Fact: The majority of the 95% he talks about do not even pay taxes and will not even see a difference.

Fact: The majority of the ones he is talking about will be the ones lined up for the extended unemployment pay or increased welfare benefits. Benefits that will come at a very high price to small business owners who are already struggling.

Fact: Expanding Government has been proven to hinder capital growth, thus prolonging a recession.

It also still continues to dumbfound me, how these elected officials think it is fiscally responsible to “CHARGE” a debt on the “taxpayer credit card”. The country is “BROKE”, when will they get it!!!

This week, legislaters in Pierre will be meeting to discuss how to best implement any funds Gov. Rounds takes from “US”. Please call, e-mail and fax your concerns. And better yet, if you are in the area, drop by and see them personally. ( SD Stimulus Planning Committee )

Fact: For states to create the jobs that Obama claims will be created, the state will have to spend 87% of the total amount, of the Stimulus they receive, just for payroll, taxes and emplyee benefits. That is 87% before any govt red tape or construction costs are factored in.

Fact: The money will “NOT” be going for job creation and capital stimulation, this is “WELFARE” at it’s best!!!

Governors of LA & MS are already saying they will not make any changes to their states unemployment codes so as to not further burden small business owners. I believe SD should follow suit. It is the moral and ethically responsible thing to do.

Fact: If you give a man a fish, he eats for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

Update  ~  Don’t get too comfortable with that extra few dollars(a Lincoln at best) a week. It will be gone very soon and you will be in the “other” majority or looking to  add another job to cover Obama’s dreams of “Big Brother” . . .

Expanding Healthcare Reform to be Major Topic of Obama Speech to Congress on Tuesday

This week, Obama will start the dialogue on how to increase coverage, restrain costs and improve quality.

Whether a bill can get through Congress and to Obama this year is uncertain. For half a century, the track record on health care has been one of missed opportunities, spectacular failures and hard-won incremental gains.

Obama plans to stress the need for major changes in his address to Congress on Tuesday, administration officials say. He quickly will follow up with a budget that includes a commitment to expand coverage for the uninsured. A White House summit on health care is being planned in coming weeks.
