Updated:Taxpayers to Bailout Hedge Funds and They Want to Nationalize Banks Now?

bangheadagainstwall2If you aren’t already fuming over all the bailouts, here’s another “Chicago White House” scheme to add to the fire.

Obama to get taxpayers to help hedge funds . . .

The easy money is gone. The solution that the Obama proposes? Subsidize hedge funds with taxpayer dollars.

hat tip (American Thinker)

UPDATE: Feb. 20 (Bloomberg)Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd said banks may have to be nationalized for “a short time” to help lenders such as Citigroup Inc. and Bank of America Corp. survive the worst economic slump in 75 years.  But hold on, Bank of America says: “we don’t need anymore government money“.

I have to ask: “What is going on here? Why are they wanting to nationalize banks against their will and who shipped all the common sense out of Washington?”

UPDATE 2 : Did I forget to mention that the Obama administration wants to use those hedge funds to prop up the defunct housing mess/bad assets they forced on the banks? Defunct loans/assets that ACORN coerced innocent borrowers to take when they knew full well they couldn’t afford the loans. All while they were intimidating lenders with thuggery scare tactics that Obama taught them to use when he was a community organizer.

And now they think they can squirm their way out of this mess with more of the same at taxpayer expense?

“Chicago Tea Party” here we come!!!

UPDATE 3: ACORN( who is receiving 4 billion in stimulus) is seeking to destroy property rights as any good little marxist organization would. Once property rights are history, no one will be safe and people will scurry to the protection that Big Brother offers in order to save what little they have. Property rights guarantee our independence. And that just won’t do for ACORN and their allies.

Proverbs 29:4  ~  By justice a king gives a country stability, but one who is greedy for bribes tears it down.

Coming Soon . . . Expedited Immigration for Illegals

30adee620a572712You know you are getting old when it’s 4 am and you can not sleep. But getting older is not always a bad thing, it does give you a jump on a good new scoop.

However, sometimes that scoop also brings insight into a rather bleak outlook.

With the passage of the non-stimulus bill and the health care reform legislation in it, the days of being able to go to the doctor and actually have your treatment decided by yourself and your physician will soon be gone. Not so much for me, I have a few years yet before the medicare years, but for our parents and all elders those days of doctor patient confidentiality are numbered.

All for the “economic” good of the country the government says.

You ask yourself, well, “why would that be”? It is because the government knows it can not sustain a national healthcare program without concessions and the elderly are just going to have to get used to the fact that with old age comes “aches and pains” and they are just going to have to deal with it.

Word out of Washington yesterday was that they are all primed and headed into high gear to get this program going in the next few months. Why the rush you ask?

“Hat Tip” to World Net Daily for their persistence in finding this so fast . . .

President Obama was a guest on “El Piolín por la manana” (on of the nation’s popular radio shows that boast an enormous Latin@ following). Obama and the First Lady were on his show several times during the campaign and yesterday he made the commitment to continue to have a regular presence from the Administration on the show.

During the interview, Obama pledged his support of the Latin@ and immigrant community and his continuing commitment to fixing our broken immigration system.  You can read the full transcript after the jump, but here is a good highlight:

THE PRESIDENT:  Well, as I’ve said every time I’ve been on the show, Piolín, we’re going to make sure that we begin the process of dealing with the immigration system that’s broken.  We’re going to start by really trying to work on how to improve the current system so that people who want to be naturalized, who want to become citizens, like you did, that they are able to do it; that it’s cheaper, that it’s faster, that they have an easier time in terms of sponsoring family members.

And then we’ve got to have comprehensive immigration reform.  Now, you know, we need to get started working on it now.  It’s going to take some time to move that forward, but I’m very committed to making it happen.  And we’re going to be convening leadership on this issue so that we can start getting that legislation drawn up over the next several months.

For Immediate Release                                                         February 17, 2009

INTERVIEW OF THE PRESIDENT

BY EDDIE “PIOLÍN” SOTELO, RADIO

Via Telephone

1:48 P.M. MST

THE PRESIDENT: Hello.

Q    Hello.

THE PRESIDENT: Who am I speaking with?

Q    Piolín.

THE PRESIDENT:  Piolín, my friend, this is President Barack Obama.

Q    How are you doing?  (Applause.)

THE PRESIDENT:  I am doing good.  I promised you that I would be on the show when I was President, and here I am on the show.  (Laughter.)

Q    You promised me that you were going to be in the studio –

THE PRESIDENT:  Well, I haven’t gone to Los Angeles yet, but I should get credit for keeping my promise this way.

Q    Oh, yes, yes.  (Applause.)  Yes, but we’re waiting for you because we are celebrating together.  (Laughter.)

THE PRESIDENT:  How have you been?

Q    Great, great, Mr. President.  We have Mr. President Barack Obama with us.  And thank you, Mr. President, for taking the time to speak with us today.  And you make history — we’re so proud.  I know you are the President for everybody.

THE PRESIDENT:  Absolutely.  Well, you know, it was wonderful being on your program when I was running.  And now I want to make sure that we continue to reach out because you have so many listeners and I think that it’s so important that the Latino community, the Spanish-speaking community, continues to stay involved in politics.

We’ve got a very tough economy and we just signed a stimulus bill today that’s going to put people back to work and provide health care to people who don’t have it.  We signed the Children’s Health Insurance Program.  Now legal immigrants are able to get health care for the first time, which is something that the Latino community had been arguing for, for almost a decade.

And so I think we’re making real progress, but we’re going to have to keep on making sure that all of you are involved as much as possible.

Q    Mr. President, you know, I just want to begin by saying now, today is an exciting today.  Congratulations on your accomplishment.

THE PRESIDENT:  Thank you.

Q    And how soon can we expect to see the positive effect of the stimulus package?

THE PRESIDENT:  Well, I think that right away what you’re going to start seeing is, first of all, states and local governments, they’re going to be able to keep people in their jobs.  There was — the budgets are so bad at the state level that people who were teaching in schools, or police officers, or firefighters, a lot of people were going to be fired from their state jobs.  And so we’re going to be able to keep those jobs open.

We’re also going to be making investments and rebuilding roads and bridges and school construction, and that’s going to put a lot of people to work, especially people who are in the construction industries.  With the housing market in such bad shape, they’ve been out of work.  Now, hopefully, some of these construction jobs will become available again.  It will probably take six months to a year before we start seeing a big impact, but at least we’ve now gotten the process moving so that we can start doing a lot better than we’ve been doing over the last several months.

Q    So that means, Mr. President, that now that you have signed the stimulus package, I’m going to receive a raise, a pay raise?

THE PRESIDENT:  Well, you know, the — you, Piolín, are already making so much money that you probably won’t get a pay raise.  (Laughter.)  You know, but for people who aren’t as rich as you, I think that they’ve got a good chance of getting help  –

Q    I’ve been playing, Mr. President.

THE PRESIDENT:  Absolutely.  Well, and the other thing is, you know, the — a lot of people who’ve been laid off of their jobs, they need unemployment insurance.  And what this bill does is it makes sure that they keep on getting unemployment insurance.  It means that they have a easier time keeping their health care, even if they’ve lost their job.  So it’s really going to provide a lot of relief to people who need it.

Q    Mr. President, how will the stimulus package help persons who are losing their homes, and how will it benefit those who want to buy a home for the first time?

THE PRESIDENT:  Well, that’s actually a separate piece of legislation that we’re going to be announcing tomorrow.  And the key there is to make sure that we work with the banks and the homeowners to try to reduce the monthly payments that they make.  And so I’ll be announcing that program, but it’s something that should help a lot of families who are making their payments, but are having a much, much tougher time because home values have gone down so drastically.  So we’ll have an entire separate home program — housing program that we’re going to be announcing tomorrow.

Q    Thanks a lot, Mr. President.  We have Mr. President Barack Obama with us.  And let me tell you this, Mr. President; I’m sure you know, but it’s important to let you know once again, we make a big contribution to our country from all across art, music, labor.  And most important a lot of Hispanics are in Iraq defending the United States, even without being American citizen.

THE PRESIDENT:  Right.

Q    We need your help.

Q    Mr. President, is there some sort of network we could establish to be in communication regarding the comprehensive immigration reform, and personally what can I do?

THE PRESIDENT:  Well, you know, the key thing right now is obviously we’ve got to make sure that all the people who are involved in immigration reform issues, that they sit down together and they start thinking about how we’re going to approach this problem.  Politically it’s going to be tough.  It’s probably tougher now than it was, partly because of the fact that the economy has gotten worse.  So what I’ve got to do is I’ve got to focus on the economy, I’ve got to focus on housing, and make sure that people feel a little bit more secure; at the same time, get the various immigrant rights groups together and have them start providing some advice in terms of what strategies we’re going to pursue in Congress.

Q    That’s one of the things, Mr. President, I would like to happen.  I’m working for media and knowing that our people worked so much.  And, you know, they came out from the houses, going to work — scary because they don’t even know if they’re going to be deported.  And can we try to establish like a signal, like a network — for example, I like what you did with the financial — financial people, that you set it up, for example — the newspaper from LA, is part of that — those groups of advisors, financial advisors that you put — I like the idea.  How can we have kind of like the thing where I can receive information?  What do we need to do so we can receive a comprehensive reform?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, we’ve got some wonderful people on my White House staff who are working on this issue on an ongoing basis.  And what we’ll do is we’ll make sure that one of those people can appear on your program on a regular basis, giving you information about what we’re doing.  And hopefully at some point you’ll be able to come visit us at the White House.

Q    Any time, Mr. President.  And I would like to be there when you sign the comprehensive immigration reform.

THE PRESIDENT:  All right.  Well, thank you so much, Piolín.  It’s great to talk to you.

Q    Mr. President, you know we are close friends and you know that I have your BlackBerry phone number and you have mine.  (Laughter.)  So keep in touch.

THE PRESIDENT:  You know I will.  Thank you so much.  Tell everybody in the studio I said hello.  I had a great time when I visited you, and everybody there was so nice.  And you were very nice to my wife, as well, when she was on the program.  So thank you so much, Piolín.  Take care.

Q    Take care, Mr. President.  You know, you are in our prayers.  You have our support, and we want to help in any way we can.

THE PRESIDENT:  Okay.  Thank you, guys.  Bye-bye.

“In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Dear Sen. Johnson,

In all fairness to you, Sen. Johnson, it is nice to see you made it back to South Dakota, but I won’t bet the farm for getting any time with you, to get my questions answered that you have been brushing me off on for months now. And although it was nice to see that you took time to meet with business and community leaders, where’s the time for the little guy? Will you take the time to respond to me now without political rhetoric? You see, I only have a couple of lingering questions that to this day you still continue to evaded.

When I called into your office in DC, you staff said there was no “pork” or “earmarks”. I wanted to hear it from you, but you were too busy to take 5 minutes for me. You see it is obvious now, you were not actually reading the bill you voted for because today you announced to the business and community leaders that there were “no earmarks” for South Dakota in the bill. Why the secrecy Sen. Johnson?

Then I called again and asked about the E-Verify to make sure that none of the money would go to illegals or foreign workers and again I was refused. All I wanted was an answer as to why it was not put in the bill when the House had voted almost unanimously for it. Can you answer this for me now?

Finally, when it was obvious that the final bill would pass and was full of even more special projects than the original bill had, I again called to ask why you were supporting it and again, I was refused 5 min with you, but was told that the bill was “Good for South Dakota”. What does that actually mean and was the previous answer to a call I made a mistake or just more typical political rhetoric to to avoid the real issue?

Unlike you, Sen. Johnson, I HAVE read the bill and you Sen. Johnson are not being honest with your constituents, so in honor of your dishonestly, I have a case of pigs ears for you to share with your leftist liberals if only you would be so kind as to take them back to DC for me. I would be so grateful and it won’t even cost you 5 min of time with me. I’m sure your staff would be more than happy to help out a concerned constituent who has just gotten the shaft by the one sent to protect her from government corruption.

You see Sen. Johnson, I always believed you when you campaigned that you were fiscally conservative  and I am sure you really didn’t mean to vote for a “Porkulus” bill that will send this great country down the “Proverbial Sewer Hole” to hell.

So in closing, “Sen. Johnson, I forgive you”, but I must remind you that your actions will be judged by a much higher power. A power you can not avoid.

God Bless,

Linda https://constitutionallyspeaking.wordpress.com/

“Congressional Relief Action Program”

New Government Tax Prescription

With the non-stimulus bill just a day away from getting signed into law, I took some time to read up on changes in our businesses and daily lives that we could expect.

The 1st item and the only one I even made it to, was what changes we could expect in health care.

Here is today’s bitter pill prescribed by none other than a Congress run amuck.

According to the new CBO report, the Obama administration can make a hefty dent in their plan to pay for all their outlandish health benefits by sticking it to the self-employed. According to the government bureaucrats, they believe that “mom and pop” operations” such as ours  rake in bigger bucks, therefore we shouldn’t be entitled to the same tax benefits of “big” businesses who can better afford health care because of the break they get on the cost of employee insurance. In the new CBO report, the tax deduction now allowed for health insurance would be cut in half, therefore, reaping the government over 200 billion annually.

But, it doesn’t stop there.

Also to be targeted, will be our men and women in uniform and the veterans who have fought for our freedoms. The new provisions laid out would also cut dramatically the benefits they receive while at the same time, increasing the amount they will have to pay for out of their own pockets, regardless of duty status.

Response from Congresswoman Herseth-Sandlin

I had sent a letter to Congresswoman Herseth-Sandlin urging her to make sure the E-Verify citizen check system requirement got added back into the non-stimulus bill.

As I had said in previous posts, the E-Verify was in the original House bill H.R. 1, but was not included in the Senate bill as Sen. “Dirty” Harry Reid would not allow a vote on the amendment to make sure there was a system in place to make sure all jobs & outgoing funds under the non-stimulus package would go to American Citizens and not illegal aliens.

Here is her typical political response that leaves me even more frustrated and angry than I was when I originally wrote to her. I have x’d out my e-mail address, I already get enough hate mail the way it is.

Dear Linda:

Thank you for contacting me to share your concerns about immigration policy.

As you know, the issue of immigration is one that is extremely controversial in Washington. The United States of America is a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws.  The people of South Dakota hold a wide range of views on immigration, but one thing that we all seem to agree on is that the current system is broken.  I value your input as these issues continue to be considered.

In October, 2007, The U.S. Senate voted on whether to fully consider a version of the DREAM Act. This legislation, subject to a set of requirements, would authorize an adjustment of legal status for some children of illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. before they were sixteen years old.  Forty-four senators voted against proceeding to the bill and fifty-two senators voted in favor of proceeding.  Under Senate rules, this means the legislation was eight votes short of the number needed to proceed further.  Earlier in 2007, a number of senators negotiated an agreement on immigration reform, but the Senate was unable to pass a final bill.  The U.S. House of Representatives is not scheduled to consider any bill similar to the DREAM Act or the Senate immigration reform legislation.

I am pleased to let you know that during the House of Representatives’ consideration of the Fiscal Year 2008 State and Foreign Operations Appropriations Bill last year, the House adopted with bipartisan support an amendment I introduced to eliminate funding for the visa lottery program under the Immigration and Nationality Act. The purpose of my amendment is to make the administration of our immigration laws more consistent and fair.

I led the effort on this amendment because I believe strongly that national security is too important to allow institutional randomness in our immigration policy.  The visa lottery injects a level of unnecessary and irresponsible uncertainty into the immigration process. My amendment is a practical provision that will make our nation safer.  In the previous Congress, when the House considered an immigration reform bill, the House adopted a similar amendment I introduced to eliminate the visa lottery program from the Immigration and Nationality Act, and I am pleased to have led this successful effort once again in the 110th Congress.

As you may know, the House and the Senate passed separate immigration reform bills during the previous Congress.  On December 16, 2005, the House approved the Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act (H.R. 4437) by a vote of 239 to 182.  I supported this legislation because it is designed to prevent illegal immigration by tightening our borders and reestablishing respect for our immigration laws.

The Senate passed the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act (S. 2611) by a vote of 62 to 36 on May 25, 2006.  The last Congress did not reconcile the differences between the House and Senate immigration reform bills in a conference committee.

In September 2006, however, the Congress enacted legislation that I supported that adds criminal penalties for the construction of illegal tunnels under the U.S. border and increases penalties for using such tunnels for human smuggling.  I also supported legislation the Congress passed to construct a 700-mile fence along the U.S.-Mexico border and enhance technological surveillance of the border.

Because of the importance of keeping our nation safe, I am optimistic that broader immigration reform is possible.  I will keep your comments in mind as immigration legislation is considered in both houses of Congress.

Thanks again for contacting me.  If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Herseth Sandlin
Member of Congress

Time for some Sewing Therapy…I’ll post vote updates later

DC says “We Don’t Care if Fiscally Responsible State Execs Don’t Need Funding”

One of the stipulations the Liberals have laid out in the stimulus legislation that is going for a vote. Word still is, that the House will vote today and the Senate will vote tomorrow.

SEC. 1607. (a) CERTIFICATION BY GOVERNOR — Not later than 45 days after the date of enactment of this Act, for funds provided to any State or agency thereof, the Governor of the State shall certify that: 1) the State request and use funds provided by this Act , and; 2) funds be used to create jobs and promote economic growth.

(b) ACCEPTANCE BY STATE LEGISLATURE — If funds provided to any State in any division of this Act are not accepted for use by the Governor, then acceptance by the State legislature, by means of the adoption of a concurrent resolution, shall be sufficient to provide funding to such State.

This is just “OH SO WRONG” on many levels. Many states such as Oklahoma have been fiscally responsible and made sure their states “Rainy Day” funds were adequate to offset any recession. The state of Wisconsin has 15 old schools that are not being used, and due to diminishing enrollments, they have said there is no need for them to be rebuilt or even remodeled, but the Federal Govt is saying to them, wait a minute, that is not “OUR PLAN” and thus $9 billion was put back into the bill this week to force states like Wisconsin to mandate construction that is not needed.

While the liberals and the White House claim ALL ear-marks have been removed, there is the $1 billion added back in for Pelosi’s STD program aka “Prevention and Wellness” programs. Also added back in is the $2 billion for ACORN, who is still under federal investigation, and who’s actions as a thug promoter of sub-prime home loans that started the whole mess of the housing crisis.

Also, forget that immediate relief of tax cuts for small businesses and the everyday working “Joe”. Every tax cut/incentive that had previously included “2008” has been removed. Well, unless you are “BIG” business such as GM that gave millions to liberals in campaign donations.

So, Congresswonam Herseth-Sandlin, where is the fiscal responsibility you boast of here? I and millions of others are confused, so please explain the above mentioned as well as the dozens of other ear-marks in this bill that will lead to balanced budgets by 2012. Even your own Congressional finance experts do not agree with you…

Now while the liberals claimed to have worked with the conservatives, as soon as the door was closed and the conservatives were out of the room they went back to work to strip nearly every responsible change made to this non-stimulus bill.

The fact of the matter is, is that we are going to somehow have to swallow this bitter pill. It is clear that liberal heads are swollen with “GREED” touting “We won, Conservatives have no say”.

We are going to have a very long road ahead, so keep those calls to DC going!!!

LATEST UPDATE:11:30pm cst : “THE GREAT AMERICAN GOVT GONE MAD ACT OF 2009”

4162This is outrageous, I have added extra comment where comment is due . . .

Update 12:45pm Eastern. Some new bullet points from Hill GOP staff outline what’s been added and removed:

· $9 billion for school construction was added back in (originally cut by Nelson-Collins)

($9 billion to force school construction that the schools do not want nor need)

· $5 billion increase for the state fiscal stabilization fund (originally cut by Nelson-Collins), making it a grand total of $53.6 billion

( State “PET” profect funding that had been removed like Pelosi’s pet project to save swamp mice in San Francisco)

· $2 billion for neighborhood stabilization program, money for groups like ACORN

( oh yes, can’t cut those home modifications loans so those who never should have gotten home loans can be saved from forclosure for another 6 months)

· $1 billion added back for Prevention & Wellness Programs, including STD education

( I’m sorry, but if you are not responsible enough to abstain or practice safe sex, that should NOT be my tax problem)

· Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research was added back in, leading Americans down the path towards healthcare rationing (63 patient advocacy groups signed a letter voicing their concerns with this provision)

( the day the government tries to tell me or my doctor what kind of treatment I get, is the day I go to jail or die trying to fight it)

(BUT, NOT INFRASTRUCTURE)

· Money for highways and bridges was cut by $1 billion from the House-passed level

( so much for shovel ready projects, well we knew this wasn’t really a shovel ready profect in the way it was sold)

KEY POINTS:

· Tax relief to help middle class families and small businesses was sharply pared back in order to increase government spending. Public opinion over the last 4 weeks has shown that Americans overwhelming believe tax cuts, and not government spending, are a better way to stimulate the economy.

( I want to know when we actually voted on this and what proof they have for their conclusion, talk about living and governing from La-la Land)

· Approximately $75 billion in true tax relief was CUT from the Nelson-Collins package. So, while the overall size of the package may have gotten slightly smaller, the spending actually increased.

( And there you have it, the true test that complete Government Control is only a few short legislative votes away!!! BUH BYE  FREEDOM, It was great while it lasted!!!)

Are we really going to take this!!! NOT “I”

Thomas Jefferson (1743 – 1826)

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
Thomas Jefferson (1743 – 1826)

Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have … The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.
Thomas Jefferson (1743 – 1826)

The worst thing you can do for those you love is the things they could and should do themselves.

Abraham Lincoln (1809 – 1865)

DEVELOPING . . . Deal or “NO” Deal

While the behind closed door deal was touted by Conservative traitors, public out cry for the non-stimulus and wails from Nancy Pelosi, that the money put back in wasn’t directed to more welfare, they are back to the drawing board.

The good news: there are cameras and we should have video of how this “behind closed door” process works.

48 Hour Review Period After Conference?

Posted at 4:25 pm on Wednesday, February 11, 2009

An interesting resolution came from the House yesterday as they officially sent their representatives into conference with the Senate to resolve the differences in the two passed bill versions:

From yesterday’s Congressional Record, Page H1096:

This instruction passed unanimously in a recorded vote. So in theory, talk of votes on Thursday or Friday this week are nonsense, unless the House decides to completely ignore this vote. There is some wiggle room to be had as the instructions specify that the text must be available to managers in the House, not the general public, but that still can’t be strictly true at least until final bill text is ready.

It would seem legitimate to expect the House to abide by this vote — and if it doesn’t, to ask why not….

Realistically, you can not blame this on just one party, this kind of mess is typical blundering breauracratic brilliance, and the reason under the Constitution, Article XIII, there is a clause that specifically stipulates there shall be “NO” lawyers elected or appointed to Congress. Too, bad that one is all but shavings.

So under this so-called stimulus, they are going to remodify the housing loan guidelines again in order that those, who shouldn’t have gotten home loans to begin with, can keep their homes for a few more months so we can start the process all over again?

I don’t re-call that housing loan modofication legislation was granted as a responsibility of Congress under the Constitution, do you?

I don’t get it, can someone help me out here?

(sorry sarcasm sneaks out once in a while)
